Biography —
Bridgette Kells (she/her) holds a B.A. in Communication Studies, Undergraduate Certificate in Nonviolence Studies, and an M.S. in Academic Advising all from Kansas State University. Bridgette returned to school at 27 to finish her bachelor’s degree, after having an unsuccessful first attempt at college right out of high school. As a nontraditional student, working full time and raising her small children, she gained a new perspective on the challenges that students face when pursuing higher education. From her own academic experiences, Bridgette developed a strong passion for helping others, specifically those from underrepresented student populations, achieve their academic goals.
Bridgette’s professional background includes hospitality management, veterinary medicine, and working for her family’s small business while finishing her degrees. Before becoming a Jayhawk, Bridgette worked at K-State Online as a Student Admissions Representative, working primarily with undergrads interested in Nutrition and Dietetics, but has since realized blue looks far better on her than purple ever did!
Bridgette holds active memberships to NACADA, KU Staff Senate DEI Committee, and Undergraduate Biology DEIB Committee and is certified in Mental Health First Aid since June 2022. She also volunteers as a facilitator for Jayhawks Give a Flock and KU Safe Zone.
